Overview
The Short-Term Programs Coordinator provides critical leadership in planning, coordinating, and executing Pioneer Bible Translators’ short-term programs. This includes managing the Summer Internship Program, short-term trips, special internships during the academic year, and the orientation events tied to each. With a heart for missions and a mind for logistics, the coordinator ensures that each program is executed with excellence, fostering meaningful cross-cultural experiences that align with Pioneer Bible Translators’ mission to mobilize God’s people.
This highly organized and detail-oriented individual thrives in fast-paced environments, juggling multiple priorities while providing relational and administrative support to participants, staff, and partners. The Short-Term Programs Coordinator plays a key role in shaping the next generation of missionaries and mission-minded individuals.
Essential Job Functions
Program Planning & Execution
- Oversee all logistical aspects of short-term programs, including application processes, scheduling, resource allocation, and travel coordination.
- Plan orientation and debriefing events that prepare and support participants for cross-cultural engagement.
- Collaborate with field teams and internal departments to develop meaningful and impactful short-term experiences.
- Ensure programs are executed with consistency, excellence, and cultural sensitivity.
Participant Engagement & Support
- Serve as a relational point of contact for participants, guiding them through preparation and participation.
- Provide personalized support before, during, and after the program experience.
- Communicate expectations, policies, and key details to ensure participants are well-informed and equipped.
Collaboration & Innovation
- Collaborate with Training, Formation, Finance, Field teams, and other departments to ensure program alignment with organizational goals.
- Work with Communications & Marketing Dept. to promote short-term opportunities through various media platforms.
- Support the mobilization and selection processes by helping identify and follow up with applicants.
Discipleship & Coaching
- Engage prospective missionaries in spiritual conversations to help them discern their calling and readiness.
- Provide individualized coaching and encouragement as people explore roles within the Bible translation movement.
- Pray with and for those considering cross-cultural service, creating spaces for spiritual growth and participation in the mission.
- Develop a consistent cadence of personal and community Prayer, Bible study, and other spiritual disciplines (such as, but not limited to: Bible Reading, Bible Memorization, Generosity, Fellowship, Fasting, Silence, Simplicity, Celebration, etc.) that are vital to the sustainability and efficacy of the ministry of mobilization.
Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
- Ability to communicate key biblical truths and demonstrate a growing relationship with Jesus Christ.
- Alignment with Pioneer Bible Translators' Statement of Faith.
- A strong commitment to the mission of Pioneer Bible Translators.
- A heart for young adults and the next generation of missionaries.
- Strong interpersonal and listening skills.
- Effective written and verbal communication.
- Highly organized and strong attention to detail.
- Self-motivated with the ability to manage multiple relationships and projects.
- Comfortable working independently while actively contributing on a collaborative team.
Experience and Education
- Bachelor's degree in ministry, missions, intercultural studies, or related field.
- Minimum 2 years of experience in mobilization, ministry, recruitment, or related field. Cross-cultural missions experience or exposure desirable.
- Project or program coordination experience preferred.
Ability to:
- Obtain and maintain a valid U.S.A. passport and a valid driver's license.
- Travel domestically and internationally, as needed.
