Overview

This person will be responsible for overseeing the development and care of children at Rancho Ebenezer. They will manage all personnel that interact directly with the children and have an effect on their development. The Children’s Services Manager will ensure that all the needs of children are met and take action to remedy any issue that may arise. This person can be either a North American missionary, or a Honduran resident

Essential/Key Responsibilities include:

● Oversee and manage all positions that interact with the children (caregivers, psychologists. Ranch nurse, mentor parents. etc.)

● Ensure the needs of each child (mental, physical, spiritual and emotional) are being met and communicate these needs to the appropriate personnel.

● Provide training on trauma care techniques for all staff at Rancho Ebenezer

● Collaborate with other childcare personnel to keep and maintain accurate records of each child’s needs and development

● Manage the department’s budget

● Remain up to date on current laws, regulations and rules regarding child protection and care to ensure all procedures are being followed properly

● Work with other personnel to develop and implement new policies, procedures and programs to best meet the needs of the children at the Ranch

● Collaborate with the Serve Team manager and others overseeing guest volunteers that may be visiting the Ranch. Ensure all individuals have adequate knowledge and training

● Provide spiritual guidance for peers, coworkers and children if needed

● Delegate tasks to appropriate personnel, should the need arise

Pursue personal spiritual growth Required Skills/Abilities include:

● Be a born-again believer in Jesus Christ

● Bi-lingual, speaking both Spanish and fluently or willingness to learn

● Knowledge of Honduran government, especially laws pertaining to child protection

● Understanding of Honduran and North American cultures and sensitivity to issues that may arise

● Good leadership skills

● Good management and delegation skills

● Strong communication skills with coworkers, peers, volunteers, guests, children and possibly government personnel

● Good organizational skills

● Knowledge of Microsoft or equivalent software

● Ability to plan activities, projects and trainings

● Ability to plan and manage staff schedules

Education, Experience & Other: 

● Bachelor’s degree or higher in child development/ education, psychology, social work or related field

● Minimum one year experience working in a similar field

● Prior experience in a management position is preferred

● Experience working with individuals, especially children, with a traumatic background

● Experience working with children and adolescents
