Taking A Missional Approach To Addiction Treatment

Can someone simply repent of an addiction and be cured? Is medical detox the answer? Many of us serve in contexts and cultures that hold a variety of views regarding what an addiction is and how best to address it. In this workshop, you will gain a Gospel-based understanding of addictive behaviors and substance abuse. You will also learn the basics of how to engage with someone caught in the cycle of addiction, and how to minister to them using the truth of the Gospel and best practices in addiction treatment. Listen, learn, and discuss with others how we can care for people holistically who are trapped in the cycle of addiction.
Jon Snyder is the co-founder of Mission To El Salvador, a missions organization dedicated to serving vulnerable populations in El Salvador. He was instrumental in developing the only residential treatment program for minors in the country. He has 15 years of working to address drug and alcohol abuse in Latin America. Jon holds a Master of Divinity in Urban Ministries, is a licensed drug specialist and serves on the board of the Salvadoran chapter os ISSUP (International Society of Substance Abuse Professionals).
